The support for radical right-wing parties in many European countries has been on the rise for the last decade. Sweden and Finland are not exceptions in this regard.
This BIBU Talk addresses the success of these parties. What has made the Sweden Democrats and the Finns Party successful and what does their future look like? How much do the parties resemble each other and other European radical right parties?
A leading scholar of radical right-wing parties, Professor Jens Rydgren (Stockholm University) considers the past, present and future of the Sweden Democrats.
Rydgren is the editor of The Oxford Handbook of the Radical Right (2018), and he has been a commentator on the radical right for many years.
Li Andersson, the leader of the Left Alliance, Academy Research Fellow Oula Silvennoinen (Helsinki University) and Doctoral Candidate Niko Hatakka (Turku University) will join the discussion with commentaries on the Finnish developments.
BIBU Talk is chaired by Professor of Political Science Hanna Wass (Helsinki University).
Coffee will be served.
